Geeks are creative? What??

Think about it – who created those tinker toys for you to build satellites out of? Or those Legos? Or the app on your cell phone that you love so much? Or the computer you are using right now? Geeks, that’s who. It’s a little known fact that most geeks enjoy their work and get excited about creating things just like any other creative person.

Are you a self-proclaimed geek? Awesome. Here are some tips on how to put a story together so we can understand what you made or do.

Use easy to understand descriptions. You can throw some big words in there, too, but don’t forget some of us have no idea what you’re talking about. We don’t know the difference between a Class and an ID. Maybe not even what img src means. So explain and write in some of the simplest terms. We want to understand what you’re talking about. Help us.

You may just want to tell us what the app or program you made does, instead of how you made it. Throw in some high-quality screen shots along with your explanation and you’ve got something compelling.

If you show us your excitement and pride in what you’ve made, we’re going to feel it. And that is important.

And of course, there are many other kinds of geeks – collectors, organizers, and probably anyone else that doesn’t fit into another category. We want to hear from you, too. Check out the Writing page for more ideas.
